Columbia Football League History

Columbia Football League was established in 1975 as a member of the North American Junior Independent Football Federation (NAJIFF). We now provide flag football for 5-6 years olds and tackle for 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 year old teams. We also provide cheerleading for girls 3-13.

NAJIFF was founded in 1975 by Mr. Adam Penna. Mr. Penna saw the need, as Athletic Director for Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX; for a youth football program which didn’t discriminate because of a childs size or weight. NAJIFF still follows those guidelines.

Mr. Wayne Penna was initially the Columbia Commissioner. In 1976, Glen Penna took over as Head Coach of the 9-10 year olds; a position he has now held for 35 years. Glenn is locally recognized as one of the best youth football coaches in South Texas. His winning record in unequalled. In 35 years coaching, Glenn has only lost 16 games and has won 28 City Championships. In 1981, Glenn became the Commissioner of Columbia Football. We contribute our success both on and off the field to Glenn’s dedication and hard work.

Over the years Columbia has been Blessed with numerous winning seasons and Championships.
