GUEST SPEAKER ELIJAH GARCIA, DEFENSIVE END NEW YORK GIANTS
On Thursday, March 6th, our athletes had the unique opportunity to listen to our guest speaker, Elijah Garcia! Elijah currently plays defensive end for the New York Giants. Elijah discussed the importance of earning and maintaining A's and B's on his report card in the classroom. He touched on doing the little things right in our athletes' studies, taking the time to put in the extra work before and after practice. Elijah also spoke about the importance of having discipline on and off the field.
Following the lecture, our athletes could ask questions, and Elijah was more than happy to reply and give valuable insight. Elijah's parents were also in attendance and couldn't help but notice that our athletes had a lot of well-thought-out questions to ask the NFL athlete.
Although Elijah is not native to San Antonio, he grew up in the area, attending Pease Middle School and playing football at Stevens High School. In 2016, he received a football scholarship from Rice University and was a first-team All-Conference USA recipient in 2021. In 2021, he went undrafted and made the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad. In December 2022, he signed with the Denver Broncos and played two seasons. In August 2024, he was signed to the New York Giants' active roster.
